  Clare Delto Musical Director    
 

Clare Delto is proud to be the musical director for this years’ production of Once Upon A Mattress after directing last years’ successful production of Fiddler on the Roof.  Clare is an alumnus of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where she earned her Bachelors degree in Music Education.  Clare also studied at San Diego State University where she earned her Masters Degree in Conducting.  Before teaching at Glendale College Clare worked for several years at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, California, where she taught voice and music for elementary teachers as well as directing the Chamber Singers.  She also served as vocal director for productions of Damn Yankees and Working at Southwestern College.  Before teaching at the college level Clare worked as a distinguished elementary music educator, teaching kindergarten through sixth grade, in Waltham, Massachusetts, Feaster Edison Charter School in Chula Vista, and Incarnation Catholic School in Glendale. She is currently teaching History of Rock and Roll and is part of the Achieving College Excellence learning community here at Glendale College.  In addition to teaching, Clare is active as a vocalist and has been featured at many San Diego venues such as the Catamaran Hotel, La Valencia Hotel, Dizzy’s Jazz Club, and the San Diego Symphony Summer Pops performing in groups of all sizes from duos to Big Band. Clare has also been featured as a solo vocalist and conductor at venues including Carnegie Hall, Notre Dame Cathedral, the King’s Chapel in Versailles, St. Chapelle, Melbourne Scots’ Church, Sydney Town Hall, and the Sydney Opera House.  Clare would like to thank the Music Department for all the support and encouragement throughout the production. She would also like to thank the wonderful cast for their dedication, commitment, and love of singing. And finally, to the marvelous production staff: Melissa, Richard, Guido, Royce, Dina, and Jim: it was a pleasure working with all of you.

   
         
  Richard Kuller

Choreographer

   
 

Richard Kuller teaches Dance and Theatre at Glendale Community College and Pasadena City College, where he choreographs for the Theatre and Opera Departments and the Tournament of Roses Honor Band, and directs an intensive Musical Theatre Workshop program every summer.  At Glendale Community College he choreographed Anything Goes in 2005, with director Ken Gray, and Fiddler on the Roof in 2008, with director Jeanette Farr.  Richard has been an actor on stage and television, has written and directed many corporate and cabaret shows, is a National Endowment for the Arts Opera-Musical Theatre Grant recipient and Co-Founder/Producer of the Los Angeles Dance Invitational.

   
  Melissa R. Randel   Faculty Director    
 

Melissa has a diverse background as an actor, director, dancer, and choreographer. While performing as Judy Turner in A Chorus Line on Broadway, she trained with Blair Cutting, a former student of Michael Chekhov’s, and with Tony Greco, a protégé of Lee Strasbergs’. In the musical theatre arena, her work has been shaped by her experiences working with Michael Bennett and Joseph Papp. Melissa received her BA from the University of California at Irvine, her MA from California State University Long Beach and trains regularly in Suzuki and Viewpoints with Anne Bogart’s SITI Company and Anthony Byrnes’s Burning Wheel Company.

   
         
  Jim Niedzialkowski Student Assistant Stage Manager    
    Once Upon a Mattress is Jim’s sixth show at GCC.  He recently Stage Managed Savage In Limbo for Melissa Randel and he also stage-managed All In The Timing, for director Matt Foyer. As an actor, Jim played multiple roles in the student directed Motel Chronicles, he played Rob in Melissa Randel’s production of This is not a Tree, for which he received a nomination for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship from the Kennedy Center America College Theatre Festival, and he was Orgon in Laurie Woolery’s production of Tartuffe: Born Again. Jim is the current President of the GCC Theatre Guild and finds great joy in being a theatre major at GCC. He would like to thank his family and friends for traveling long and far to not see him on stage. He would also like to thank the cast and crew of the production for making this job easier than it should be.
