Description of the Music Department


Glendale College's music department, located on the second floor of the auditorium building, offers a full range of courses in fundamentals, musicianship, harmony, appreciation, history, technology, and recording as well as classes in piano, voice and guitar. Private lessons are available on most instruments, including voice, through the Applied Music Program.

The Department also offers a wide range of performing ensembles which are both an integral part of every musician's education and an opportunity for adults from the community to participate in the performance of great masterworks. Instrumental performing ensembles at Glendale College include the Community Orchestra, various chamber groups, and Jazz Band. Vocal performing ensembles include the College Choir (non-auditioned mixed voices), Concert Singers (auditioned mixed voices), Vocal Ensemble (auditioned vocal jazz), and Music Theatre (auditioned and choreographed mixed voices).
