How We Can Help You
- The Learning Center is a warehouse of curricular materials in your subject area which you may assign as required, supplimentary, or extra credit work. This includes complete k-12 coursework in Writing, Reading, Math, and General Science in our computer assisted instruction lab and video tapes in nearly every subject. We can also manage YOUR multimedia materials (videos, audio tapes, CD's, etc) left on reserve. We are also open to suggestions for purchase of multimedia materials which you would like to have available in the Learning Center. Make your suggestions to Professor Doyle.
- The Learning Center is the main location for free tutoring on campus. If you have struggling students, it's likely we can find an excellent peer tutor who we will pay and supervise to work with your student in our Tutoring Center.
- If you have the need, we can usually provide peer tutors to work with your students IN your classroom. Contact Betty Myers for details.
- If your students can't write, send them to the Learning Center's Writing Center for help. This is not just for remedial or developmental English students. Sometimes good students write badly.
- WebCT instructors may wish to refer their students to our computer assisted instruction lab in which there is NO FEE for student access to the Internet. To save money, however, printing is not available.
- If one of your students had to miss a test, the Learning Center staff will proctor the make-up exam for you. Contact Agnes Rudnick for details.
- We can keep track of your students' use of the Learning Center and send you timely reports listing their hours in the Learning Center. Send your name and the class ticket number to Agnes Rudnick at arudnick@glendale.cc.ca.us and we'll put your class on our distribution list.
How You Can Help Us
- Give us the names of your excellent students who you feel would be good tutors in the Center. We will send them an invitation and a job offer. Our tutors can fit their appointments around their classes so they may work without leaving campus. Tutoring a subject makes the student really learn the subject. Contact Andy Stires for details.
- Give us samples of your hand-outs, assignments, and requirements so that we may keep a file of your materials on hand as reference for our tutors. Instructors often have differing requirements for papers. i helps to know that the assignment is and how the instructor wants the citations made. Send them to Maria Shufeldt.
