CALL JAPAN!

an exhibition by Christie Frields and Jessica Rath.

On view April 1 – May 13, 2006.

Opening reception: April 1, 4 – 7 pm.

March 11, 2006 (Los Angeles) - CALL JAPAN! is a shout out to the artists’ mutual interest in ikebana, the tradition of Japanese flower arranging, whose formal and ideological methods are modeled on the harmonious balance between nature and culture.

The show is comprised of Frields’ three, twenty-foot-plus, vertical sculptures of black PVC pipe and Plexiglas, and Rath’s ten – 20” x 20” Cibachrome photographs.

This is the fifth exhibition of the 2005-2006 season for Glendale College Art Gallery. A non-commercial venue, the gallery continues to focus on providing Los Angeles-based emerging and established artists opportunities to show challenging work and promote innovative curatorial approaches.
